Existing Horror Trailers

Here are some existing horror trailers which i will take inspiration from:

The Orphanage trailer contains approximately:
  • 8 High Angle shots
  • 7 Low Angle shots
  • 10 Extreme Long-Shots
  • 29 Long Shots
  • 20 Mid-Shots
  • 16 Close Ups

The Shining trailer contains approximately:

  • 1 High Angle shot
  • 3 Low Angle shots
  • 10 Extreme Long-Shots
  • 17 Long Shots
  • 15 Mid-Shots
  • 5 Close Ups

  • The Orphanage trailer begins with some slow establishing shots and long shots in order to set the scene. Shorter shots and faster cuts follow in order to increase momentum and create suspense. The diverse range and number of shots means that the trailer relies on 'teasers' in order to draw in an audience. The Shining's trailer has significantly less shots which suggests a change in method over time. This trailer begins with a lot more establishing shots and uses a voice over to reveal some of the plot. It also however, uses faster cuts later on to create suspense.
